The control description, also called the control definition, provides detailed information about the course and the controls (each featuring a unique code). It also includes specific information about where to find the control, e.g. on the east face of a boulder.

 

Usually, the control description is written on the map, but separate copies are always available for those who prefer to wear it on their arm, using a description holder.
